Meditation on Twin Hearts in Bangkok

Meditation.png

Meditation on Twin Hearts is a guided meditation of about 20 minutes, developed by Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui, the founder of Modern Pranic Healing. It focuses on two energy centres, the heart chakra and the crown chakra, and uses them to bless the earth with loving-kindness. It is practised alone or in groups around the world. Saksit Meditation and Healing Centre teaches it in Bangkok as part of the Pranic Healing curriculum.

What Is Meditation on Twin Hearts?

Meditation on Twin Hearts is a loving-kindness meditation from the Pranic Healing tradition. Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui published it in his 1992 book The Ancient Art and Science of Pranic Healing. In that book he also calls it the Planetary Meditation for Peace. His chapter on the meditation is reprinted for free distribution with his signed permission.

The meditation does not ask you to empty your mind. You give it a task instead. You bless the whole earth with peace, joy and goodwill, then rest your attention on a point of light. Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui described it as a form of service to the world as well as a personal practice.

You do not need to follow a particular religion. The blessing uses the language of loving-kindness, which most traditions share. Some guided versions also include the Prayer of St Francis of Assisi.

Why Is It Called "Twin Hearts"?

The name refers to two energy centres. In Pranic Healing teaching, the heart chakra is the centre of the emotional heart: compassion, joy, kindness and mercy. The crown chakra, at the top of the head, is described as the centre of the "divine heart".

Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui taught that the crown chakra opens more fully once the heart chakra is active. So the meditation always works on the heart first and the crown second.

The Eight Steps of the Meditation

Meditation on Twin Hearts follows eight steps, as set out in Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui's published instructions. A guided recording or a teacher leads you through them in order.

Steps 6 and 8 are easy to skip. Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui's instructions say not to skip them, because they settle the body after the meditation.

How Long Does It Take?

The meditation itself takes about 20 minutes. Add about 5 minutes of exercise before and after, and a full practice runs 30 to 35 minutes. Group sessions at Pranic Healing centres usually run an hour or more because they add an introduction and time for questions.

Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui also described a shorter group form. It keeps only the blessing through the heart chakra, the crown chakra and both together, followed by the release. He described this group blessing as a form of world service.

Who Should Check Before Practising?

Meditation on Twin Hearts is not suitable for everyone. Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui's original instructions advise these groups not to practise it:

  • young people under the minimum age. The 1992 text says 18. Several centres today use 16.

  • people with a heart condition

  • people with high blood pressure (hypertension)

  • people with glaucoma

Some Pranic Healing centres also ask pregnant women and heavy smokers to check before joining. If any of these apply to you, talk to your doctor first and tell the instructor before the session.

Meditation is a complement to medical care, never a replacement. The US National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health advises people not to use meditation to replace conventional care and to tell their health care providers about any complementary practice they use. Global Pranic Healing quotes Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui directly: "Pranic Healing is not intended to replace orthodox medicine but rather to complement it."

Researchers have started to study the meditation. Two studies are registered on ClinicalTrials.gov: a 100-student study of Twin Heart Meditation and exam anxiety at Near East University, and a 28-person study of mood, cognition and EEG by the NeuroMeditation Institute. Both are listed as completed. Saksit Meditation and Healing Centre makes no health claims based on them.

Where Twin Hearts Fits in the Pranic Healing Courses?

At Saksit Meditation and Healing Centre, Twin Heart Meditation with Self-Healing is part of the Advanced Pranic Healing Level 2 syllabus.

If meditation is what draws you, two courses need no previous training:

  • Achieving Oneness with the Higher Soul is a two-day course for anyone aged 16 or over. It is the meditation-first entry point. Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui's book of the same name, formerly titled Meditations for Soul Realization, explains Twin Hearts in its first section.

  • Basic Pranic Healing Level 1 is a two-day course that teaches the foundation of the whole system. The course fee is 9,500 Baht, including the book, certificate, materials, lunch, snacks and refreshments.

From there the Spirituality track continues to Om Mani Padme Hum and Arhatic Yoga Preparatory Level. See all 19 courses on the courses page.
