Super Brain Yoga: How to Do It, What It Is For, and Where to Learn It in Bangkok

Super Brain Yoga is a two-minute exercise from the Pranic Healing system. You hold your earlobes with crossed arms, press your tongue to the roof of your mouth, and squat about 14 times, breathing in on the way down and out on the way up. Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui published it in his 2005 book SuperBrain Yoga. Saksit Meditation and Healing Centre teaches it in Bangkok as one of three courses that need no prior training.

What Is Super Brain Yoga?
Super Brain Yoga is a short daily exercise that combines an earlobe hold, a squat and timed breathing. It is also written as Superbrain Yoga or SuperBrain Yoga. The name comes from the 2005 book SuperBrain Yoga by Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui, the founder of modern Pranic Healing.
A 2023 research review describes Super Brain Yoga as "a brief exercise based on the principle of ear acupuncture" (Vinu et al.). Acupuncture itself is a separate practice; the US National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health keeps a plain-language summary of what acupuncture research shows. Within Pranic Healing, Super Brain Yoga is taught as an energy practice. In Pranic Healing terms, prana is life energy. If you are new to that idea, start with our guide to what Pranic Healing is.
Super Brain Yoga stands apart from the rest of the Pranic Healing curriculum in one way. You practise it on yourself, in two minutes, with no healing training. That makes it an easy first step into the system.
How Do You Do Super Brain Yoga? 7 Steps
Super Brain Yoga takes seven steps. Read them once, then practise in front of a mirror until the arm position feels natural.
-
Stand tall. Place your feet about shoulder-width apart, arms relaxed at your sides.
-
Touch your tongue to the roof of your mouth. Place the tip of your tongue on your palate, just behind your front teeth. Keep it there for the whole exercise.
-
Hold your right earlobe with your left hand. Use your thumb and index finger. Your thumb goes on the front of the lobe, your finger behind it.
-
Hold your left earlobe with your right hand. Same grip. Your right arm crosses over the outside of your left arm.
-
Breathe in as you squat. Lower yourself slowly. Go only as low as is comfortable for your knees.
-
Breathe out as you rise. Come back up to standing at the same slow pace.
-
Repeat about 14 times. That completes one round.

How often and how long?
One round of Super Brain Yoga takes about two minutes. In a 2024 study, nursing students practised one round at least three times a week for two months (Farahani et al., 2024). Popular guides suggest one round a day.
Five Mistakes That Change The Exercise
A class lets an instructor check all five in person. That is the main reason to learn Super Brain Yoga from a teacher instead of a video.

What Is Super Brain Yoga Taught For?
Super Brain Yoga is taught as a short daily exercise for focus and memory.
It suits people who want a daily practice that fits into a busy day. It takes two minutes, needs no equipment and no mat, and you can do it at home or in the office. That makes it a good fit for students, people preparing for exams and office workers who want a short reset between tasks.
Results vary from person to person and nothing is guaranteed. Super Brain Yoga is a complementary practice. It does not diagnose, treat or replace care for any medical, learning or developmental condition.
What Does the Research Say?
Research on Super Brain Yoga is early and small. Two studies give the clearest picture.
Where Super Brain Yoga Fits in the Pranic Healing Path
Super Brain Yoga is a self-practice. It needs no healing training, so it works well as a first course before the main sequence. The main sequence starts with Basic Pranic Healing Level 1, a 2-day course with a course fee of 9,500 Baht that includes the book, certificate, materials, lunch, snacks and refreshments. From there students move to Advanced Pranic Healing Level 2.
Students who want meditation rather than healing can start with Achieving Oneness with the Higher Soul instead. See all 19 courses and their prerequisites on the Saksit courses page. For how Pranic Healing maps the body's energy centres, read our guide to the 11 chakras in Pranic Healing.

Super Brain Yoga is a two-minute exercise from the Pranic Healing system. You cross your arms, hold your earlobes, touch your tongue to the roof of your mouth and squat about 14 times while breathing slowly. Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui published it in his 2005 book SuperBrain Yoga.

Which hand holds which ear in Super Brain Yoga?
Your left hand holds your right earlobe and your right hand holds your left earlobe. Your right arm crosses over the outside of your left arm. Grip each lobe between thumb and index finger, thumb in front.
Does Super Brain Yoga really work?
Early research is encouraging but small. A 2024 study of 59 nursing students found better memory and concentration scores after two months, with no change in grades. A 2023 review of 15 studies called for more rigorous trials. Saksit teaches it as a practice to try, not a treatment.
Is Super Brain Yoga safe?
Super Brain Yoga is gentle, but it involves repeated squats. Check with your doctor first if you have knee, hip or back problems, dizziness when standing, a heart condition, or are pregnant. Squat only to a comfortable depth and stop if anything hurts.
Do I need any experience to learn Super Brain Yoga at Saksit?
No. Super Brain Yoga is one of three Saksit courses with no prerequisite. The other two are Basic Pranic Healing Level 1 and Achieving Oneness with the Higher Soul.
